Fact: Human instinct is to be spiritually and naturally Pro-life.

Every human is a Pro-life being.  If you say you are Pro-choice, you are deceiving yourself, and worse yet, contributing to the deception that increases the fatality rate of unborn children. From the moment that every man or woman is conceived, the critically common thing between each person, is the struggle to stay alive.  Human reproductive cells, in the survival-of-the-fittest fight to live, become zygotes that continue fight to stay alive. This is an indisputable, natural, ingrained fact of the human DNA. So then I ask this question, if we struggle so much to say alive, from our very conception, and every moment thereafter, why would we purposefully yank that right and natural process from any other human, born or unborn?  The deliberate act of interrupting another person’s ability to follow this survival pathway is an egregious violation of that person’s natural right to stay alive and flies in the face of the Creator.

A Pro-choice stance actually defaults to mean that you are Pro-death. In embracing a Pro-choice position, you are actually trying to equate life and death with the same standard. This is not possible, as good and evil cannot be accepted within the same domain.  So it’s either you support life or you support death, but the two cannot be married.  In other words, the term Pro-choice is an oxymoron or even an antithesis. Which one of you are willing to rationally have your life aborted at any given moment as an option or a means to an end?  Whatever the social circumstances might be, if God chooses to create a life within, He is sovereign to do so. Rich or poor, within the confines of marriage or not, with the old or young, medically and mentally fit or not, timely or untimely, who are we to refute God’s sovereignty and condemn that person to death?  

If you consider yourself Pro-choice, Then I urge you to consider these two passages of Scripture:

‭Mark ‭12:26-27‬ ‭

“Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”

Fact:  All those innocent ones who were aborted have returned to the Lord, and are living souls in His presence.

You must keep this in mind as you take a stance to support abortion.  We must be mindful of this fact if you decide to support, ignore or even attempt to explain the killing of babies away as unfortunate, but necessary.  Consider that every one of those aborted children is now with the Lord.  They are all alive in The Lord! They are not dead in the presence of the Lord.  Abortion is not the end all; it is certainly not the end of the child.  In other words, we are not rid of the children we abort. If you thought otherwise, you are badly mistaken!  This fact should make us shiver. Anyone who is an unrepentant participant, supporter, or has an indifferent approach to the act of abortion, please understand that these children are witnesses against such people in the presence of their Maker.

Revelation 6:9-11

“When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.”

Every moment of your lives is spent struggling to survive. Therefore, you are Pro-life! None of us struggles to die, which confirm that none of us wants anything to do with death.  Yet we find it prudent to support a practice that purposefully brings death into the most defenseless and innocent among us.  Because of this bipolar approach to these little ones in the womb, we are condemning ourselves, as our very existence is a testimony of our knowledge that life is precious as we fervently struggle to maintain it. Each one of those aborted babies is a holy witness against the unrepentant inhabitants of the earth, where their blood were spilled amid their struggle to live.  In other words, they were struggling to live just as we are, even in the womb.

In the presence of the sovereign Lord, this act may be no different from the murder of Abel, when the Lord said to Cain, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.” (‭Genesis ‭4:10‬) So will the blood of the aborted, along with the blood of martyrs, and those who were unjustly killed, cry out to the Lord against us.

What have we done, aborting our babies under the banners of Pro-choice? A “laundered” title to whitewash what it real is; Pro-death!  Are there really any life situations that would justify the deliberate and wanton death of a child?

Fact:  Abortion is the taking the life of a Child!

STRENGTH OF MY WEAKNESS

I just went through a couple of weeks, that as my mother would say, “these are times that can try your very soul!”.  My family and I had spent days preparing for a Cat 5 plus storm to unleash on South Florida, and after weathering Hurricane Irma and experiencing only minimal effects to the great storm, there was a great sense of relief in me.  The week before, as the storm approached, I placed a lot of energy in preparing for the worst.  As a family, we stocked up, shuttered up, and fueled up.  We spent hundreds of dollars preparing for every scenario and reviewed our emergency plans over and over and over. So with the western shift of the forecasted approach and good preparation, the great storm caused us no lasting harm or damages. After cutting back downed trees, assisting our neighbors with clearing debris, and riding out a few days without electricity, we were no worse for wear compared to other regions who were not quite as fortunate. Needless to say, we were relieved.

However, I came to realize that what I needed protection from was not Irma.  Life was about to come at me very hard.  At least for me it was hard.  It appeared I was not as prepared for this onslaught as much as I had prepared for the wrath of Hurricane Irma.  I had not adhered to the counsel of St. Peter as He so clearly stressed in his letter to the church.

1 Peter 5:8-9

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

Now, right after the hurricane passed, I went into what I will call a spiritual slump. I am not too sure how I got there, but I was there.  For that week after the storm, during my unexpected vacation from teaching, oh yeah, and there was no church either, I was not in an “alert state of mind”.  Now, I am not saying that my absence from church or school is the reason for this slump, just saying that this is when it happened.  it seems that I took a vacation from the vigilant man the Lord has called me to be.  That is a priest in God’s Holy Church.  

During this slump, I was hit with a series of news that made my faith shiver somewhat.  I received news of the passing of a dear friend.  Then without warning, my uncle who I had been caring for, who was up in years, but was not expected to be stricken, had a brain aneurysm and passed a few days after. Then to exacerbate the piling on of these unexpected bad news, one of my business venture went south, fast! Now, I have to make it clear; all these happenings were not due to my spiritual slump. But my ability to deal with them at first acknowledgment was at a diminished level because my spiritual state of being was at a diminished level.  Needless to say, I was shaken, and despair was at my doorstep threatening to break the door down.  It didn’t help that I was also slowly recovering from a medical challenge myself. Now, as a servant of the most Holy God, why would I be surprised that these things would come my way?  Especially when I am at my lowest? The only surprise here is, that I was surprised that such things had happened.

2 Corinthians 6:3-10

Rather, as servants of God, we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.”

As Christians, we will face trial and tribulations, and in most parts of the world, you can add persecution to the wretched mix. There is no getting around trials, strife and conflicts on this side of eternity.  In most cases, trials and tribulations will strike when least expected, sometimes like a 350 pound blind-sided sack, not that I know what that feels like since I never played football. But I sure can imagine the impact!  Sickness, death, and loss of income usually do not make appointments with you.  They will creep up on you like a thief in the night or a blitzing linebacker on your blindside.  The lack of preparation for such suddenness can cause you your sanity, possessions and security. In other words you will often end up fumbling the ball. This is so because we exist in a fallen and broken world.  As Christians, even though through Christ, spiritually, we are not of this world, (John 17:14-26), the reality is that we exist physically in this world, therefore we are subjected to the physical ills and trials of this world.


In spite of my lack of stolid faithfulness, the Lord remained faithful.  After some self-pity and a pitiful, depressive disposition, I recall during a period of prayer, my conscience began to question my motives and my approach to prayer. I realized that my prayer wasn’t with a right mind.  To be more clear, it was about my lack of spirituality and how I approached the Throne of Grace. It was as if I was saying to the Lord, “This has to be fixed, this way and right now”. There was even one particular morning, after some time spent in prayer, the business situation even went even further south.  I remembered saying to myself, “Why Lord? Did I not earnestly pray this morning?” My weakness was on display right there in front of me.  Who am I that I should boast, that I should walk in pride? Shouldn’t I be more in tune with my weakness as unto the things of Christ? (Isaiah 40:32)  As I corrected my error in thinking and subjected myself under the awesome reality of Christ’s saving grace, my approach to the Throne of Grace in humility and in sincere prayer, I was literally altered to a submissive attitude unto Christ. In the midst of all this, I was reminded of this prayer by Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane just before He was betrayed:

Mark 14:35-36
“Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from Him. “Abba, Father,” He said,“everything is possible for You. Take this cup from Me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.””

Now just consider this for a moment.  Here is the Son of God, perfect in every way and without sin.  This Man who is God Himself, crying out to His Father in total submission and humility.  I stopped to think, I, who am a sinner and wicked in many ways, how much more should I prostrate myself before the Lord knowing that my sins are numerous. Shouldn’t I have expected even greater consequences?  Even so, I  know that  my Redeemer lives and His amazing grace is sufficient for me.

Psalm 121:1-8

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.


As I approached the Lord in true prayer, there was a significant difference as to my attitude in how I faced these unfortunate life issues.  The issues did not disappear, nor were they made easier. On the contrary, the business crisis was beginning to seem as though it would get worse, and in some way it did. The situation seemed hopeless.  However, my Lord, whose grace is sufficient for me and who is my help in time of need, strengthened my resolve to face these things.  To underline Christ’s amazing love even more, He used the funeral of my friend, an amazing woman of God, to testify the power of faith and give strength to my soul.  This saint had demonstrated such amazing faith in the face of death, that the celebrant of her homegoing service was moved to present a powerful sermon simply by substituting the writings she had penned over the months leading to her death. It is awesome how God can use such a solemn occasion to uplift the downcast. This too was also so timely, as it prepared me to absorb the sad news of the unexpected passing of an aunt living out of town a few days later. With all this, I know that no matter my circumstances, my Lord is still on His Throne.

2 Corinthians 12:9   

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Writing this article, I know the Lord was exposing a weakness in me. Let me say this, accepting weakness is not what most males are willing to admit.  Your know, I was a man with many flaws and certainly fell short of the glory of God.  Even so, I am now ordained into the priesthood, a man of the cloth, and well, this only further exposed how great my flaws are and how much more I am reliant on the grace of Christ, just to get through each hour of the day as a servant of His Kingdom.  As I go from day to day, and seek to do His will in service of His kingdom, I realize that none of it can even be attempted in my own strength and will.  If I am going to do the will of Christ according to His calling on my life, I have to die to self so that His power may rest completely on me. I have come to understand that our weaknesses are for our benefit, because oftentimes, it is through our weakness that the glory and strength of Christ are manifested in us.  

2 Corinthians 12:10

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Now, when the Apostle Paul wrote here that he delights in the difficulties that come his way, he did not say that he is delighted that these thorns of social ills are plaguing him.  What Apostle Paul is saying, is that when theses things happens, he delights in the strength of Christ, in whom all things are possible.  This should be the reality of every Christian: Knowing that it is when we are weak that Christ is strong!  This is where I wasn’t when these difficult circumstance arose.  At times, we get complacent and drift out into the monotony of routine and wiles of this world. When trials come, we are unprepared and jump into panic trying to swim out of it.  This manner of panic praying is like a swimmer fighting against rip currents; we just find ourselves being dragged out into deeper water and sinking fast.  As the experts would advise us, to avoid the rip current, we should first calm down, and don’t fight. Remain steadfast and firm, so the waves do not suck us under. Ride the waves and swim horizontal to the shore. You will endure the threatening current for a while, but eventually there will be a breakthrough and clear path back to the shore.  So it is when we are faced with the difficulties of life, especially the unexpected ones.  Don’t fight against it with your own might and in your own strength. Seek the hand of God in prayer. He will guide you along the path of least resistance until there is an opening to pull yourself out of it.  Word to the wise, I didn’t say pray and do nothing.  The Lord will guide you along, not carry you.

Isaiah 40:28-31

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one  can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even  youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

There is a song entitled, “What a Beautiful Name.” One of my favourite lines: “My sin was great, Your love was greater”.  How reassuring are these words. No matter how great your sins, no matter how great your trials, no matter how great your despair, His love is greater. And it is bigger. And it is always available…waiting for you to claim it.

Brainwashed Generation

As Christians, we need to protect ourselves from the evil things of the world. It is easy to say when these things are clearly evil, but we are often fooled by the things that are masked by “what we like”.

We are brainwashed by our movies and our music no matter how much we say that we can detect it’s evil. We have become numb to profanity, violence, and sexual immorality and these factors of “entertainment” has contributed to that. In this time, music, movies, and social media take up a great deal of our time; spending large amounts of time on anything WILL have an impact. It’s sad to see that a large amount of famous music that promotes immoral things are so willingly endorsed by many Christians. It is not a bad thing to listen to secular music; however, it is a bad thing to listen to immoral music.

Sometimes we are so caught up in our love of an artist’s talent that we are blind to negative impact he or she has on us. For example, Beyonce’s song “Drunk in Love” is a crowd favorite. Everybody knows that song. We’ve all sung it at some point. It’s catchy, the rhythm is nice, it talks explicitly about sex, but she has an amazing voice, right? It’s easy to ignore that third point; however, it is crucial that we don’t. We cannot deny that this song has had an impact on this society. You can even buy t-shirts and phones cases with these lyrics. Sadly, it was a negative impact. Another example, in Kanye West’s new album, he mentions a line about Taylor Swift: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex…I made that b**** famous.” Many people are defending Kanye! These people, including Christians, are saying that others are overreacting about the statement, because it was simply a joke. A disgusting comment like that is”okay” and “not that bad” because it was merely a joke.

These kind of inacceptable excuses are being made all because people like his artistry. We need to open our eyes to the what we don’t know is controlling our lives. We can hope all we want that we were are just enjoying the musical quality and not the lyrics, but we know that that is not the case. Clean versions of songs may remove the profanity but not the sexual immorality or violent behavior that the artist implied. How many of us still cringe at the sound of profanity as much as we did as children? Very few. This is because we are used to hearing it so much, even if we aren’t the ones using them. This proves how much we are affected by the things around us. It is so important that we ask God to give us wisdom and a spirit of discernment. We need to pray for ourselves and for our brothers and sisters in Christ that we are not fooled and led astray. We must also pray for our nation and those who aren’t Christians that God will open their eyes and use us to make a difference in their lives and lead them to Jesus.

I think about that song that many us Christians learned as children: ” Be careful little eyes what you see…because little ears what you hear”. It’s something we must live by.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” -Phil 4:8

Resolution 2016

It’s a new year and many of you are anxious and excited about starting, and eventually, realizing your New Year’s resolution goals.  Well, as for me, I have already started my resolution for 2016, which is to lose the 30 pounds which I somehow gained last year.  Honestly, it wasn’t really my resolution; it’s a must, as I cannot fit in a lot of my clothes anymore, and my budget doesn’t include a new wardrobe.  Whatever New Year’s resolution challenge you choose to take on is fine, and I wish you much success.  However, I do want to encourage all my friends and colleagues to include one other resolution: to make a purposeful and consistent effort to attend and be a vibrant part of a church this year.  If you are already attending regularly, then my encouragement is for you to increase your participation in the ministries of your church. If you are already actively involved in your church home, I encourage you to mentor someone and be a blessing to them.

I am driven to make this suggestion as I do have concerns with our generation’s approach to Christians living.  Many Christians have stopped attending church on a regular basis for reasons that vary. This has resulted in a people who are ignorant to the Word and it.sound doctrine. The scariest thing is that a high percentage of Christians are getting their information on social media.  I have seen so many well-meaning people accepting watered-down religion and heresy on Facebook and other site.  I have noticed that more and more are being influenced by misinformation and misguided trends on these sites.  This has led to a slow abandonment, and in some cases even total recanting of their beliefs in the foundational truth of God’s Holy Word. Somehow,  many of the influencers are able to spout their opinions as gospel truth, and people just run with them as facts.  This includes miscommunication in areas such as history, politics, race, and even medical matters.  However,  the most grievous is the manipulation of biblical passages to further a cause.  Those who want to believe these causes, good or bad, accept the inaccuracies as truth to further their agenda.  Why would we do that? Why would we accept biblical information from any John Doe or Jane Doe from who knows where?  Most of us are not even willing to check for accuracy. If it fits our preferred narrative,  we will accept it as truth.

To quote a line from my Bishop’s sermon this past Sunday, “Would you go to a doctor for legal advice, and would you go to a lawyer for medical advice?” You would not seek professional advice from someone who is not qualified in his or her field, so why would you accept theological claims from a person who is not trained in biblical interpretation.  Where do you find true theologians?  They are in a bible-based church near you!

So, for the New Year, foster a relationship with your priest or pastor in a liturgical communion. Give these people who are dedicated to the Word a chance to impart the Gospel to you.  Be purposefully active in your participation within the communion of saints as you partake in the liturgical activities and ministries of your local church. I promise, you will be blessed. 

There is no better time to start this New Year’s resolutions than this week.  Wednesday the 6th of January is the start of the Epiphany on the liturgical calendar, which is the celebration of the manifestation of Christ. Just as the Magi journeyed to seek His manifest presence, I also encourage you to head out to your local church and gain a greater experience and understanding of Christ’s manifestation in each of us.

So whether your resolution is to lose weight or to gain riches and everything in between, all that is just vanity, and can be lost in the blink of an eye.  Be resolute in that which is eternal: the inerrant Word of God.

Pope’s Visit

So the Pope is visiting this side of the world.  The media is all giddy with reporters run back and forth trying to get a shot of what color shoes the Pope is wearing.  (I was told the tradition is red shoe…this Pope broke tradition and wore black. My shoes are always black, so I have no problem with his choice).  Politicians are fighting each over what he said and didn’t say. Democrats are on the left, Republicans are on the right (well…nothing new here, moving on). President invited gay, transgender and pro-choice leaders to greet the Pope, with a chorus singing the gospel song; Total Praise (The President always try to marry holiness with immorality….I believe the Pope fell a sleep during that rendition). The average citizens are complaining about the traffic nightmare (nothing new here either).  Fiat in America is like “Cha Ching” because the Pope rode in their 500L model (I believe the “L” standards for luxury).  My FB page is all lit up, with Protestants saying, he is merely a man and Catholic saying, he is the holy father. (What do you say?…We may need a third category)

My only question is this; why did channel 10 interrupted the Hurricanes, Cornhuskers game, to broadcast the Pope’s arrival in Cuba?

With all that said, notice all of the above, have nothing to do with JESUS.

Condemning Demonstration

“ALL LIVES MATTER!” The act of condemning ourselves! As we demonstrate and shout out those words, hundreds of innocent babies are being killed daily in these same communities. The most innocent among us! Unable to speak or do anything for themselves. #ProLife #Abortion #unborn
