Why Render Unto Caesar?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is now here, its the law, now what? Here is my take:

The ACA is just a sophisticated tax system to subsidies health care.  The bill is designed to tax the young and healthy to cover those who the government (which at times I will refer to as Caesar) classifies as unfortunate.  This makes the bill’s foundation to be no more sure than a pyramid scheme. The bill was written to force the insurance companies to drop so called inadequate coverages which are deemed illegal under the new ACA law.  These coverages, which are declared inadequate are the policies which are purchased by a high percentage of young and healthy people. This was purposely designed into the ACA bill, forcing the young and healthy to purchase more expensive policies or pay the federal fine (which is called a tax to make it legal).  If this pyramid type system cannot pay for itself, then Caesar will demand of people to pay higher taxes or higher premiums and (or) higher deductibles.

This ACA bill is an ideologically driven policy; that is, a policy which is birthed and acted upon according to one’s perception…instead of a program supported with ideas, innovations and participation. The former is bound to fail under its own weight, requiring counter measures after counter measures to try and make sure of its foundation.   If this monstrosity of a Bill depends heavily on a certain sector of society to basically support a vast category from the same society, how can it support itself?  Did the architect put much consideration into what the likely nature of this gigantic program will be twenty years from now?

Luke 14:28-30 KJV

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.”

To give an illustration of the frailty of this ideological driven Bill, take a closer look at Social Security, which is the closest program resembling the ACA. Social Security is a program that generates it funding from the majority of the population.  Nearly the entire working population of the nation pays a percentage of their wages that support a limited confined sector of society; the retirees and in some cases, those with special needs.  Still, Social Security continuously operates under the treat of running out of funds to support the future generations.

The ACA seems to be the opposite to Social Security in comparison to its source of funding.  It is designed to force a limited sector of society to support the masses; it could easily be that healthy, middle income will be funding the majority, the very back bone of the nation economy. Why would we take away the lubricant from the gears the turn this economy.  The working young and healthy will carry the burden of a large variety of the population, such as those who are considered indigent, the elderly, and many more categories that the government determines should get full coverage at taxpayers’ expense. This policy seems to be the perfect foundation for a Greece type calamity within the next twenty to twenty five years.

Proverbs 11:1 KJV

A false balance is abomination to the Lord : but a just weight is His delight.

I know my approach here may come across as cold and indifferent towards the indigent, the elderly etc.  This is far from that reality.  As a matter of fact, I do believe our current health care industry needs to reshape the system, as brokenness, waste and even sinful practices exist within and are in need of repair. I just think it is so unwise to implement such a radical overhaul of the existing system. With all its problems, it still remains as one of the most innovative and successful health care program the world has ever seen or known.

Proverbs 22:28 KJV

Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

My reasons for opposing the ACA in its current form is the high possibly of bankruptcy and failure. If you believe that the poor and the elderly are suffering now, well, this will pale in comparison if the ACA runs into financial problems. To correct the impending financial problems, premiums will increase and deductibles will rise with subsequent crises. If these first step to sure up the system don’t stem the crises then services will be cut. The government will then have to decide who will be treated and when. Because of the projected reduction in revenue, research, innovation and development will scale back to alarmingly low levels.

Do you like visiting the DMV? How about the Social Security office?  Or the dreaded IRS? Why would we want to turn over our health care to these same service employees and management staff? They are some of the worst customer service personnel and caregivers in any industry I can think of. What about the VA health program, the established government health care provider for our service personnels. Talk about cost overrun, inadequate service, long waiting periods and documented abuses. The VA population is probably less than ten percent of the population. How are they going to manage the entire nation? If this is how they treat our heros, what about you and me? ACA program is run by these same people who act as if they cannot be discipline or fired, because they are “government employees”. I could tolerate them handling my driver’s license and even a portion of my retirement benefits, but my health care? That’s about as relaxing a thought as trying to take a leisure swim in shark infested waters.

Why would you choose to render your lives and the future of your children unto Caesar? Do you really want Caesar to decide by a pre-configured chart, the treatment that you are requiring? To prove just how dangerous and indifferent the government could be, consider for a minute the death clause that was written into the bill for those who the government will determine to be a burden on the system. They would make the decision to stop treatment on an elderly patient because they are not worth spending precious dollars on. That was a hidden clause in the ACA bill that was discovered after it was passed. Remember, no one read the bill before it was passed. It was removed after a public outcry. Who in their right mind would even consider such a thought! Well, the government did!

The bill will require health care givers to render abortion services, even if that’s against the provider’s moral conscience…Imagine this also, with Caesar having access to all medical records. Say one is pregnant and test shows that the developing baby may have down syndrome…The health care law could easily be modified to require that all such pregnances be terminated to ease the burden on society. Yes, these are the kind of decision-making we are turning over to the Government.

Proverbs 25:26-28 KJV

A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Giving the government control over our health care is not the same as paying taxes. You are actually handing over a very part of your being to an inadiquate, controlling system. Have you ever been able to negotiate a government program that is governed by law? Then I warn you, when its the law, there is nothing we can do about it. When Caesar is very demanding and cold, and when he is in charge, you pay dearly!
